I am back from my travels and here is another painting I was inspired to create. It is a completely new technique for me. I used a piece of canvas rather than paper, which I am more familiar with. I then applied a layer of Gesso to the canvas and then painted with watercolor. This turned out to be a disaster! The paint would not adhere to the canvas and just kept pooling up and rolling off like raindrops on glass. I then tried oil and acrylic and that seemed to work.
I will admit that although I love the bright colors it was difficult to deal with the adherence problem and the resulting cracking of paint after drying. I then decided to try something new and mixed egg yoke and water with the acrylic paint and voila! - it seems to have worked. I just like to try something new when I am feeling adventurous!
